Our mission is to provide care in a mixed-age and nurturing environment for children ages 6 Months to 5 years old.  We aim to offer a Relationship-Based and Play-Responsive Program as we foster confidence, independence, resilience and growth of your child on a variety of levels. As your child is loved, supported and nurtured, they engage in daily age appropriate activities and play that aim to support problem solving skills, flexibility, determination, JOY and patience.

 

We provide a nurturing space where secure attachment and relationships are at the core of everything we do at Sweet Peas.  We aim to help the children feel safe, supported and loved as they spend their days in our care and we do this by offering a continuum of care, primary caregivers and many  opportunities for Family Engagement.  As a result, children feel comfortable taking risks, we offer as much freedom of choice as we are able to while at the same time stretching their capabilities and we aim to attune with each child and their unique cues and needs. We foster social emotional development daily, which builds empathy and interpersonal skills that carry on into new environments. We appreciate the individuality of each child while also teaching children how to work cooperatively with others.

 

We facilitate productive and thoughtful conversations amongst the children as we explore new concepts together as side-by-side learners. At this developmental level, we hope to instill that the process is more important than the product.  We provide an open-ended curriculum that supports diverse learning styles, and we make space for joy and curiosity. Opportunities to develop skills, such as facilitating and practicing language development, understanding feelings and navigating social skills are supported daily. We practice fine motor development using a variety of activities and materials. We work on large motor skills through regular outdoor play and onsite classes such as yoga and music/movement.  

 

Our staff works collaboratively on all levels of our program. We enjoy continued professional growth through in-house education as well as seeking outside opportunities all throughout the school year, which help us learn and grow as educators no matter how long we’ve been in the field. We view ages 0-5 as an incredibly foundational point in each child’s development and our staff are passionate about facilitating thoughtful and meaningful experiences for the young children in our program as they grow and evolve into citizens of the world.  We take great pride in helping children become grounded and balanced, curious and thoughtful life long learners.
